A camera housing for a camera tube such as a vidicon tube for use in spectrometry has a rigid front plate (19) with a relatively large surface. Mounted on the front plate is a rotationally symmetric adapter (22) which carries a frame (24) for a window (25a) which may be of UV-transparent quartz glass. The window is sealed by O-rings (25). Attached to the adapter is a bellows holder (23) which supports one end of rubber bellows (50). The other end is attached to a hollow tube (80) which carries the deflection coil system (52). Supports for the coil system (82) are mounted on a carrier plate (5) having a bevelled lower control surface (130). A complementary bearing wedge is screwed to a slide plate (7) which moves on a lower slide plate (9) under the control of a precision spindle (11).
