The vehicles receive data telegrams in series form from a fixed control station. At least one computer with a series-parallel converter at its input is provided for processing the telegrams. A circuit part (SL), e.g. a store, delivers a special test telegram known to the computor(s) (R). Switching circuits (S, OG2) block the series-parallel convertor (S/P) input for external telegrams, for a specified period immediately after reception of a data telegram, and connects the input to the circuit part (SL). The test telegram is then fed into the series-parallel convertor, and at least one of the computers collects the test telegram, or individual data words from it compares it with the test telegram known to the computers and delivers an error signal when they do not coincide.
