<p>The base for furniture to prevent damage from feet and floor cleaners, consists of a frame formed of a set of standard sections; at least three of which are U shaped with sides (7, 9) turned outwards. The inside surfaces of these sides are for hooking to a plinth. The plinth is made up of one or more parts (11) at least partly covering the outer surface of the frame. The inside surfaces of the sides (7, 9) of the frame sections have a lenghtwise groove along them (20'). Flexible hooked sections (13, 14) which are joined to the plinth include a lengthwise hook (20) which fits into the lengthwise groove (20') in the frame sections. At least three of the standard sections forming the frame can be prismatic bearing sections with surfaces turned outwards towards the frame and with grooves in.
