A plurality of recesses 25 are formed in a tool face-fan elongate rod body 20, each having a flat bottom face 26 inclined inwardly and rearwardly relative to the longitudinal axis of the tool body. Each recess contains a rotatably indexable cutter disc 24 with an end face resting on the flat bottom of the recess. Each cutter disc has a peripheral surface which is circular in cross-section through the disc perpendicular to its central axis said peripheral surface being generally concave in axial section through the disc and including a cutter portion forming an acute angle with an adjacent end surface of the disc. The magnitude of this acute angle and the degree of inclination of the recess flat bottom face are such as to provide a positive rake angle (a) of 1-25 DEG . <IMAGE> |
