Prodn. of a crop-protecting product. which destroys weeds by spraying onto the aerial shoots and leaves, does not pollute the soil and is non-toxic to humans and animals who eat the treated crops comprises combining NaCl, whole blood powder, ascorbic acid and water. The compsn. pref. comprises 80% water, 13% NaCl, 6% whole blood powder and 1% ascorbic acid. The water is used as solvent; the NaCl stops growth and scorches the weeds by its corrosive and refrigerant action; the blood stops growth haing a synergstic effect with the salt, but feeds the soil with nitrogen and proteins; and ascorbic acid acidifies the solution.
