<p>PURPOSE:To improve sharply the sensitivity in detection of a current by forming a magnetooptical element of a crystal substance having yttrium, iron and garnet and by providing the element in a part of an iron core. CONSTITUTION:A gap 3 is formed in an annular iron core 2, for instance, which is so disposed as to surround a conductor 1, and a magnetooptical element 4 formed of a crystal substance having yttrium, iron and garnet is inserted into the gap 3. Optical fibers 7 piercing through the core 2 are joined to the opposite end faces of the element 4 through the intermediary of a polarizer 5 and an analyzer 6 respectively. A light-emitting part 8 and a light-sensing part 9 constituted of photodiodes are connected to a light input end and a light-sensing end of the fibers 7 respectively. By selecting the length of the gap 3 and the inner diameter of the core 2 to be appropriate values, the intensity of the magnetic field of the gap 3 can be increased. Thereby the sensitivity in detection of a current is improved sharply.</p> |
