A method of growing sea animals comprises the steps of providing a water pathway (1), placing sea animals (50) into the water pathway (1), placing food materials (51) in the water pathway (1) about the sea animals (50) holding at least the food material (51) substantially in position, and causing water to flow about the sea animals (1) and food material (51). Sufficient food material (51) is placed in the water pathway (1) to exceed the food needs of the sea animals (50) so that the food animal (51) will grow whilst in the water pathway (1). The invention also comprises growing apparatus comprising a shallow tray (1), support means (2) for the tray (1) so that one end (4) of the tray (1) is positioned a greater distance from the ground, on which the support means stands, than the other end (5) of the tray (1). The tray has side walls. A water supply is provided to the upper end (4) of the tray (1) to supply sufficient water during normal use to flow about sea animals (50) and foodstuffs (51) placed on the tray (1). |
