The equipment is esp. useful when the sealing ring locating groove (7) is some distance from the mouth of a small dia. bore. A spigot (10) of dia. close to that of the bore has a carrier (35) on which the sealing ring (24) is mounted and uniformly deformed so that it clears the bore as the spigot is inserted. The sealing ring is stripped off the carrier and seated in the locating groove by relative axial movement of the transfer mechanism (25) and slight rotation about the equipment axis (1). USE/ADVANTAGE - Sealing ring can be inserted quickly and without risk of damage.
