PURPOSE:To obtain an ultrasonic flaw detector constituted so that the approach work of an ultrasonic probe to a flaw detecting position is facilitated regardless of the irregularity of the shape and flaw detecting position P of an object to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic probe 8 and a solid-state imaging apparatus 6 are integrally held to a holder 7 and driven in a predetermined direction by a scanning mechanism. In manual scanning, an operator drives the scanning mechanism while looks the screen taken by the solid-state imaging apparatus 6 to make it possible to move the ultrasonic probe 8. In automatic scanning, a scanning control unit drives the scanning mechanism to move the ultrasonic probe 8 to a target position and, at this time, a flaw detecting position P can be computed from the image data obtained from the solid-state imaging apparatus 6. |
