<p>PURPOSE: To simplify an interface between a user and a display system and to improve the function by using an icon for the selection of a menu bar. CONSTITUTION: A work station contains RAM 14, ROM 16, a disk device 20, an input/output adapter 18 for connecting a peripheral equipment such as a tape device to a bus, a keyboard 24, a mouse 26, a speaker 28, a microphone 32 and/or a user interface adapter 22 for connecting other user interface device to the bus, a communication adapter 34 for connecting the work station to a data processing network and a display adapter 36 for connecting the bus to a display device 38. The icons are selected and an operation is directly operated for displaying the menu bar having a buried icon on the menu bar on the display device 38 and for executing the operation related to the specified icon for the different icon or the other object on display.</p> |
