PURPOSE:To provide an automatic exposure device for a camera capable of obtaining proper exposure, or approximate exposure even when very intense light is made incident on some of photoelectric conversion elements, and then an overflow occurs and it gives influences on the output of the column, or of the surrounding areas. CONSTITUTION:As a 1st means, a photoelectric conversion part and a readout part for reading out the output of the photoelectric conversion part are arrayed in a grid shape in division photometry elements 11 and 19, and when prescribed number or more outputs equal to or exceeding a prescribed value exist side by side on one optional column in a readout direction, all the outputs of the column are not used for calculating the proper exposure. And as a 2nd means, a 1st photoelectric conversion part for measuring the brightness of an object field, a 2nd photoelectric conversion part whose surface is shielded from light and for measuring a dark signal and a readout part for reading out the outputs of the 1st and 2nd photoelectric conversion parts are arrayed in a grid shape, and when the output from the 2nd photoelectric conversion part is equal to or exceeding a prescribed value, the output of the division photometry element is not used for calculating the proper exposure. |
