PURPOSE:To measure the mechanical deformation values such as vertical and horizontal volume modulus of elasticity, Poisson ratio, and internal friction regarding each solid material under wide temperature conditions quickly and accurately. CONSTITUTION:A specimen 3 consisting of each solid material is mounted to an ultrasonic waveguide body 1 where recessed and projecting parts are formed on the outer-periphery surface and an ultrasonic pulse is discharged to both. One edge of the ultrasonic waveguide body 1 where the specimen 3 is mounted is inserted into an atmosphere furnace 2 satisfying wide range of temperature conditions and the other edge with a water-cooling jacket 8 and a transmitter/receiver 9 is located outside the atmosphere furnace 2, thus maintaining a normal temperature state. The ultrasonic pulse is discharged from a transmission circuit of a sing-around unit 11 and then mechanical deformation value is measured by performing arithmetic operation of the propagation time and attenuation rate in the specimen 3. The specimen 3 can also be held by a pair of ultrasonic waveguide bodies having a transmitter and a receiver each and the pulse echo method can also be applied for measurement. |
