OPTICAL GENERATOR OF HIGH-POWER SIGNAL FOR COMMUNICATION APPARATUS

PURPOSE: To inexpensively provide a highly reliable and highly efficient signal optical generator with large power by containing a modulation mechanism. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber laser 2 excited by pumping light sources 17 and 41 (wavelength is 980 nm), an optical fiber amplifier 3 and a modulator 6 are provided. An optical isolator 5 is inserted into this side of the modulator 6 for stably operating the optical fiber laser 2. The output light of the optical fiber laser 2 is modulated in the modulator 6 through the isolator 5 and is amplified in the optical fiber amplifier 3. Then, it is supplied to an optical transmission system as a high power optical signal whose wavelength is 1530-1550 nm.
