PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a suspending and resuming processing only by pen input by allowing transition from a normal state to a suspended state or vice versa according to a state transition control signal. SOLUTION: When a suspending and resuming instruction means 4 instructs the transition of a state, a state transition control means 8 generates a state transition control signal which instructs a processor 3 unconditionally to shift the state. When the state is the suspended state and a pen storage detection signal shows the storage in a pen storage means 2, and when the state is the normal state and the pen storage detection signal indicates the extraction of the pen from the pen storage means 2, the transition of the state is not instructed to the processor 3. Consequently, even when the state transition by the suspending and resuming indication means 4 and the state transition by the pen storage detection signal are used in combination, the processor 3 never malfunctions.
