PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convent the interlace scanning system of an image into the progressive scanning system, without deteriorating the image quality of the image after conversion more than the image quality of the original image. SOLUTION: In MPEG 2 coded data, there exist image data resulting coding image data of the interlace canning system and image data resulting coding image data of the progressive scanning system. When a field correlation discrimination section 3e discriminates that the MPEG 2 coded data are image data resulting coding image data of the progressive scanning system, an output of a field memory 3h is written in an FIFO memory 3h. In the case tat the field correlation discrimination section 3e discriminates such that the MPEG 2 coded data are image data resulting coding image data of the interlace scanning system, an output of the field memory 3h or an output of a means value interpolating section 3b is selected, and the selected output is written in the FIFO memory 3h. |
