PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection liquid crystal display device which doesn't have a black matrix(BM) and has a high visual recognizability. SOLUTION: In this reflection device, a liquid crystal layer 13 is held between two substrates 11 and 12, and a display part is provided where peripheries of picture element part areas A arranged like a matrix are segmented by non- picture element part areas B, and light made incident through a polarizer 24 arranged on the front side of the liquid crystal layer 13 is reflected by a reflection layer 22 on the rear side of the liquid crystal layer and is emitted to the front side. In this case, a product Δnd of a layer thickness (d) of the liquid crystal layer 13 and a refractive index anisotropy Δn is set to about 0.25 in picture element part areas A and is set to its two-fold or even-fold value in non-picture element part areas B. |
