PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize S/N ratio in a wide density range, without deteriorating the resolution at low density of an image obtained by reading an X-ray film. SOLUTION: After executing black correction, Log conversion and white correction to image data obtained by reading the X-ray film 2 by an CCD 4, a density adaptive filter 10 obtains the average density value surrounding a concerned pixel to select-set space filter characteristic according to this average density value. Thereby, a filtered image signal is corrected by a density correcting table 11 and an interpolation circuit 12 to obtain the image signal of a desired resolution. |
