PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection liquid crystal display superior in brightness of display, hardly allowing, the disturbance of a display image, superior in contrast in visual recognition during non-lighting or lighting, and superior in clarity, and provide a light guide plate or a surface light source device capable of the same. SOLUTION: This light guide plate 1 radiates incident light from an incident side face 13 from the bottom face 12 via a light radiating means formed on the top face 11. When the direction of the maximum intensity of the radiating light stays within 30 degrees against the normal to the bottom face 12, and the incident side face side is set to be a negative direction referring to the normal in a vertical face against both reference planes of the incident side face 13 and the bottom face 12, the intensity of leak light from the top face making the same angle as the direction of the maximum intensity is 1/10 or less of the maximum intensity, and the incident light form the bottom face 12 penetrates form the top face 11. A surface light source device is equipped with a light source on the incident side face 13 of the light guide plate 1, and a reflection type liquid crystal display device is equipped with liquid crystal cells provided with a reflection layer in the bottom face side of the right source device. |
