Large size chamotte brick, in particular a hearth block in a tin bath

Fireproof clay brick consists of a base block body made of Al2O3.SiO2 with a surface contacting the tin bath, and having an open porosity of 20-25 vol.% and a closed porosity. The material of the base body contains a light filler and in the manufacture contains a combustion material, so that the closed porosity is raised by 10-15 vol.%, whilst the open porosity remains unchanged. Production of the fireproof brick is also claimed.
