PURPOSE: A medium collecting method of an automatic medium feeder is provided to selectively collect a medium at all areas of a medium feeding path and to prevent unnecessary medium release when power is repeatedly supplied. CONSTITUTION: Media existing in all medium feeding paths from a medium cassette to a medium release device are detected by a sensor. For collecting the media existing at respective areas, the detected media are properly transferred back and forth. The media are detected as a medium feeding distance is adjusted back and forth for the collecting of the media existing at an area out of the detection area of the sensors.
