Apparel for a rider of a vehicle which apparel has indicating means for illuminating, in a first mode, when the vehicle brakes are actuated and for displaying visual information, in a second mode, when the vehicle brakes are not actuated. The apparel may be a motorcycle helmet with an array 32 of LEDs which are energised when the brakes are applied through either a detachable cable or an electromagnetic radiation link. The array may display directional indicators or other information in the second mode. The array may be actuated by a distance sensor to display a warning to a following vehicle when it is too close. |
