PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a running condition of a train by receiving allowable speed information and allowable distance information transmitted through track circuit from a ground device with an on-vehicle device of the train. SOLUTION: In this automatic train control system 100, a ground device 13 transmits to a track circuit allowable speed information of the following train 12 and allowable distance information at this allowable speed based on the position of the preceeding train 12' on the track circuit 14. An on-vehicle device 11 of the following train 12, receiving the allowable speed information and the allowable distance information, respectively compares the actual speed with an allowable speed and an actual distance with an allowable distance, to perform control so as to suppress the speed to the allowable speed or less, in the case that the speed exceeds the allowable speed or in the case that the speed, where the distance exceeds the allowable distance, exceeds the allowable speed.
