PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power amplifier that can efficiently operate. SOLUTION: In the power amplifier where a bipolar transistor(Tr)1 is used for an amplifier element, a distortion compensation circuit 1 including a diode element D is connected between a base terminal B of the Tr1 and a base drive power supply Vb, a resistor R1 is connected across the diode element D. Thus, even when the level of a bias signal supplied from the power supply Vb is low level and unable to turn on the diode element D, a bias signal (voltage or current) is supplied from the power supply Vb to the base terminal B of the bipolar Tr1. As a result, the amplification is attained with the low bias signal level while suppressing distortion by the distortion compensation circuit.
