PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically record title character information of each track on a recording medium when recording information on media having international standard recording codes to other media. SOLUTION: When a recording is conducted from a master CD16 having an international standard recording code(ISRC) to a slave disk MD7, an ISKC for each track to be recorded is stored in a memory 18, a home page having the database of the title data corresponding to the ISRC of Internet is accessed by a modem 12 in the recording and reproducing device, title character information corresponding to the ISRC of the memory 18 is downloaded and stored in a character information memory 14, the title character information corresponding to the program recorded in the disk MD7 is recorded onto the disk MD7 from the memory 14.
