PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the local staining of magnetic particles in a magnetic brush electrifying device electrifying an image carrier while bringing the magnetic particles into contact with an image carrier. SOLUTION: By providing a stirring auxiliary member 14 assisting the stirring of the magnetic particles 10 stirred by a rotating and stirring member 13 near a gap where the member 13 is opposed to an electrifying sleeve 9, dirt adhering to the magnetic particles 10 on the sleeve 9 and a foreign matter mixed therein are prevented from locally existing at the same part of the sleeve 9, so that they are dispersed in the entire magnetic particles 10 stored in an electrification container 7, and the local staining of the magnetic particles 10 is prevented.
