PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce objective nitrile by subjecting alkane to gas phase catalytic oxidation by mixed gas containing molecular oxygen and ammonia in the presence of metal oxide having a specific compsn. SOLUTION: An ammoxidation catalyst represented by formula Mo1 Wa Bib Xy On [wherein X is at least one element selected from Na, K, Rb, Cs, Ag, Be, Mg, Ca, St, Ba, Sc, Y, Ce, La, Pr, Nd, Sm, U, Al, Zr, Si, Ni, Co, Ti, Mn, In, Cu, Ru, Rh, Pd, Pt, Ir, Nb, Sb, B, P, Sn and Pb, a satisfies 0.01<=a<=10, b 0.01<=b<=5, y 0<=y<=100 and n a value determined by the valency of another existent element] is used. Alkane is subjected to gas phase catalytic oxidation by mixed gas containing molecular oxygen and ammonia in the presence of this catalyst to efficiently produce an objective nitrile. |
