PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission line having a low connection loss and a method for manufacturing the optical transmission line having the low connection loss. SOLUTION: In one disclosed method, a dispersion compensating fiber or other proper first transmission fiber 50 is connected to a first end of a bridge fiber 60. This connected part 80 is heated up to the highest temperature so that the connection loss is decreased to a measurable extent. Next, a temperature of the connected part 80 is gradually lowered down to a room temperature so that the decrease of the connection loss is maintained. Next, a second end part 82 of the bridge fiber 60 is connected to a second transmission fiber 70. Further, a technique for deciding the highest temperature for heating the connected part 80 between the first transmission fiber 50 and the bridge fiber 60 is disclosed. |
