PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color solid-state imaging device, by which well-balanced resolution in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction is obtained with satisfactory efficiency in one field image, even if a color filter reads using a Bayer pattern color filter array while conducting thinning-out readout operation. SOLUTION: Read-out pixel positions, which are read out as output signals OS by a vertical readout circuit 4 and a horizontal readout circuit 7, are pixel arrangement positions formed, in such a way that many pixels as a whole are divided into sets, in which four pixels composed of two pixels (G and B) in the horizontal direction and two pixels (G and R) in the vertical direction are set as a single unit, in the case of a 1/2 thinning-out readout operation; that the sets of the four pixels are divided into first sets selecting two pixels adjacent in the horizontal direction and second sets selecting two pixels adjacent in the vertical direction; and that the first sets and the second sets are continued alternately so as to be positioned.
