METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ELECTRODE WIRE FOR WIRE ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining that can manufacture the electrode wire of fast electric discharge machining speed with high productivity. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining has a first coating step of coating the outer periphery of a core material with a Zn layer; a second coating step of coating the outer periphery of the Zn layer with a Cu-Zn layer of low Zn concentration to form a coated wire material; a first diameter reducing step of reducing the diameter of the coated wire material; a first heat treatment step of applying heat treatment to the coated wire material to form a Cu-Zn diffusion layer of high Zn concentration; a second diameter reducing step of reducing the diameter of the coated wire material; a second heat treatment step of applying heat treatment to the coated wire material to soften the coated wire material; and a third diameter reducing step of reducing the diameter of the coated wire material.
