Device (1) for damping the pivoting movement of a door comprises a lifting element pivoting in a liquid-filled housing (6) and dividing the housing into a first liquid chamber and a second liquid chamber. The lifting element has a first resistance in a first pivoting direction and a second resistance in a second pivoting direction for the pivoting movement.
