MONITOR SYSTEM AND MONITOR MODULE FOR OPTICAL TRANSMISSION LINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology which actuates the optical transmission line monitor system that is superior in extendability, etc., by module implementation and has a self-diagnostic function. SOLUTION: A fiber termination rack 32 is provided with an optical branch module MA which is connected to an optical transmission line, a coated optical fiber selection module MB having optical switches and a memory 8 storing characteristic data, and a control module MDB so that they can be detached. A test rack 38 is provided with a measuring instrument selection module MC which has optical switches and a memory 14 storing other characteristic data and a control module MDC so that they can be detached. Those modules and measuring instruments 34 and 36 are connected by an optical fiber cable and a transmission cable. For a self-diagnosis, the control modules MDB and MDC read characteristic data out of the memories 8 and 14 and compare them with reference data stored previously in reference memories 20B and 20c and it is judged that the system is normal when they match each other and abnormal when not.
