A tail stock clamping device is provided to simplify a passage system with a clamping force generated in a direction of hydraulic power of a traction bar and to double the clamping force by gear ratio with a small hydraulic pressure. A tail stock clamping device for supporting a workpiece and clamping/unclamping a tail stock(20) towed by a carriage into a bed, the device comprises a traction bar(50), a clamp shaft(60), a clamp piston(70), and a clamp block. The traction bar is installed in the tail stock for connecting and disconnecting the carriage and the tail stock, and includes a rack gear(52). The clamp shaft is rotatably supported to the tail stock, having a pinion gear(62) meshing with the rack gear and clamp gears(64A,64B) on the both ends. The clamp piston meshes with the clamp gears and a rack gear on one end. The clamp block is connected to the other end of the clamp piston for clamping/unclamping the tail stock to/from the bed by the lifting motion of the clamp piston.
