A method for using lightning as an alternative energy source is provided to utilize electrical energy of lightning by using lightning as an electric power capable of producing hydrogen, and reduce the consumption of fossil fuel by generating electricity using the produced hydrogen. A method for using lightning as an alternative energy source comprises the steps of: constructing a lightning rod guidance rocket system for guiding lightning that is a power source of the electrolyzer; installing an electrolyzer for electrolyzing water into hydrogen using electricity supplied from lightning in a state that water is filled in the electrolyzer; connecting the lightning rod guidance rocket system to an anode of the electrolyzer and connecting a cathode of the electrolyzer to the inside of the ground by electric wires; and launching a lightning rod guidance rocket into the air to guide lightning to the lightning rod guidance rocket system.
