A method and an apparatus for transmitting a message using a clipboard are provided to transmit a short message to a mobile terminal from a PC or a PDA more easily and to improve occupancy for system resources of the PC or PDA. If the user of a network terminal calls a clipboard in order to transmit a short message(S110), the network terminal reads stored information from the clipboard and displays it to the user(S115). If the user selects text, voice or moving picture information, based on the displayed information, the network terminal determines whether the selected information is a text stream composed of characters only or contains voice or moving picture information, and converts the selected information so that it can be executed at a terminating party's mobile terminal(S120,S125). Then the network terminal transmits the converted message to the terminating party's mobile terminal(S130).
