The system includes first (2) and second (4) optical telecommunications devices, and a passive optical network (6) which is used for communication by the two devices via at least one traffic wavelength. The system also includes a reflectometer (18) which is coupled to the passive optical network in order to measure a test wavelength. A first Bragg grating (B1) is mounted on the passive optical network between the point where the reflectometer is coupled and the second device. A second Bragg grating (B2) is connected between the first and each section of the second device. Each grating has a non-zero coefficient of reflection.
