摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent material, a luminaire, and an image reading device capable of stably emitting light with a spread in the arrival direction of the light by restricting variations in the way of resulting shadow at each point of an irradiated area.SOLUTION: A transparent material 21 comprises a transparent material body 22 and a light scattering member 23. The transparent material body 22 has a columnar shape and has a convexoconcave shape formed on a longitudinally region provided on the surface in a band shape, in which a salient 24 protruding in a radially outside direction and a recess 25 formed on the radially inside direction of the salient 24 appear alternately, so that light incident from the edge face passes through the interior. The light scattering member 23 is attached to the transparent material body 22 in a state of not being in close contact with the recess 25 while being in close contact with the salient 24 of the transparent material body 22 so as to evenly scatter and reflect light. The surface of the region provided in a band shape of the transparent material body 22, with which the light scattering member 23 is not in close contact, is structured as a light regular reflection surface on which light reflects regularly.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A
