The purpose of the present invention is to provide a rubber composition having excellent fracture characteristics and wear resistance. To achieve said purpose, the present invention provides a rubber composition that contains silica and a rubber component having a diene polymer, said rubber composition being characterized in that: the diene polymer contains at least 3 modified functional groups capable of interacting with the silica only in a range of 1/4 of the total chain length from the chain end; the monomer structure of the diene polymer is contained in the diene polymer in between one or more of the modified functional groups; and the silica content is 60-250 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the rubber component.
