PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl alcohol composition excellent in molding property, which prevents whitening (fine cracks or voids) when a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film is stretched.SOLUTION: The polyvinyl alcohol composition comprises polyvinyl alcohol (A) and a crosslinked resin particles (B). The polyvinyl alcohol (A) contains a specified amount of hydroxyl groups. The crosslinked resin particles (B) contain a specified amount of functional groups such as hydroxyl groups and carboxyl groups. The total amount of hydroxyl groups possessed by the polyvinyl alcohol (A) in the polyvinyl alcohol composition is larger than the total amount of the functional groups possessed by the crosslinked resin particles (B), and the difference between the amounts is at most 25 mmol/g.SELECTED DRAWING: None
