A specimen container has a relatively large opening defined by a rim. A twist-off cap closes the opening and includes a hole of substantially smaller diameter than the rim. An impermeable liner is provided between the twist-off cap and the rim. The liner is adapted for piercing with the tip of a pipette for removal of a sample or by a decanter insert having a lower end adapted to pierce the liner, and a midportion sized to make a close fit in said hole for supporting the upper end of the decanter insert. |
