Cable of organic yarns is led through preheating zone and heated to 200-300 degrees C in air, O2-enriched air, gases containing oxidants, or N2; then over free-running rollers at 200-300 degrees C in same atmosphere; finally into carbonising zone with inert atmosphere, most of zone being at >=1000 degrees C. |
