1,185,629. Spark gap capacitors. ERIE TECHNOLOGICAL PRODUCTS Ltd. 13 Oct., 1967 [19 Oct.. 19661, No. 46858/66. Heading H1M. A spark gap capacitor is manufactured by stamping a terminal strip to provide a front terminal 9 and a rear terminal for soldering to silver electrodes 13 of a disc capacitor, trimming the terminal strip at 3 to form contacts which may be plugged into a circuit board, encapsulating the remainder of the assembly by dipping in molten resin and finally severing the remaining bridge between the terminals at 8 to form the spark gap. Alternatively (Figs. 1, 2, not shown), two sets of linked terminal blanks are prepared by stamping and soldered to opposite ends of tubular capacitors to form (first and second) terminals and the blanks trimmed to form pluggable connections, the other ends of the pairs of terminals being soldered together and then severed (after encapsulation) to form a spark gap. |
