The apparatus is for preventing short of power lines in an electric power supply system. The apparatus includes: a detecting part(218) for detecting whether power lines are short; a system control part(210) for initializing the system when the battery voltage is greater than a charged voltage of a capacitor(C2) and whereby high signal is output from the detecting part(218) and generating a control signal to close or open capacitors(C1, C3, C4-C7) according to a driving command when the battery voltage is smaller than the charged voltage of the capacitor(C2) and whereby low signal is output; a control signal output part(220) for outputting an inhibit signal to open the capacitors(C1, C3, C4-C7) regardless of the driving command when high signal is output from the detecting part(218) and the control signal of the system control part(210) when low signal is output from the detecting part(218); and a switching means(TR1-TR4) for driving the capacitors(C1, C3, C4-C7).
