Phase-splitting is achieved in a " clock-type " motor by the use of hysteretic stator teeth angularly displaced from the main teeth. A single coil 2 excites groups of interdigitated main teeth 10a, 11a, and hysteretic teeth 100a 110a projecting from plates secured to the motor framework by permeable bushes 7. The hysteretic elements may be of tempered carbon steel. The rotor is permanently magnetized. |
