The fuel tank I is connected to the compensating tank 2 by lines 36, 37 which open into opposite corners of the tank 1. The compensating tank 2 is connected by line 3 with the compensating chamber 16, Fig. 2, of valve unit 4. Excess pressure in the tank 2 or chamber 16 causes pressure relief valve 7 to open thereby ventilating the chamber 2 to atmosphere via chamber 18 line 11 and a rubber sleeve (28), Fig. 4 (not shown), which may be disposed behind a vehicle bumper or may be covered by a filter. An overpressure in tank 2 or chamber 16 causes valve (6), Fig. 3 (not shown), to open and the gases pass via chamber 17, line 8, explosion protection device 31 and inlet 32 into the crankcase 9. The ventilating valve (5), Fig. 3 (not shown), opens the chamber 18 to the chamber 16 when underpressure occurs in chamber 16.</p> |
