An installation for the prodn. of shrink wrappers from a folded flat tube provided with >=1 deep fold along one edge, which, after drawing from an extruder is perhaps printed, and then in sequence at positions spaced out along the length of the running tube, is provided with welded seams as well as cut-away sections to form the cowl-shaped wrappers. In the direction of drawing off, behind the draw rollers of the extruder, a buffer storage system for holding the continuously extruded tube is located, and behind this system on each side of the running tube, pivoting frames are arranged with heating and cutting tools for converting the tube into the wrappers required. Effects important economics in labour and storage space. Gives scope for quality control of the cowl wrappers produced and improves the possibilities of adjusting the extrusion to sult the finished product.
