The invention relates to a process for producing a seal (10) on a moulded body (32), in particular a cylinder head cover of a motor vehicle engine, in which process a bearing groove for the seal (10) is introduced into the cylinder head particularly in the form of a die casting. The seal (10) is placed under pressure. Firstly the seal (10) is introduced into the groove (14) of a counter mould (12) with a defined excess (24) of sealing material which substantially exceeds the volume of the bearing groove. Said seal is hardened by precipitation by the application of pressure between the moulded body (32) and the counter mould (12).
