<p>The plastics coil former has thin deformable ridges (4), lying radially across the inner surfaces of the coil former wire receiving surfaces. These ridges deform when the coil expands axially due to temperature changes. Thus the system prevents the force of the heat expansion to be transferred to the flanges, where it could cause fracture. The assembled coil can, therefore, withstand much higher temperatures. The ridges may have various cross sections, such as triangular, semi-circular etc.</p> |
