Anti-theft system for vehicle with cardan shaft transmission - with vehicle immobilised by toothed sliding sleeve meshing with fixed gear on shaft

The anti theft system is designed for a vehicle with a cardan shaft to transfer engine output to the road wheels. The cardan shaft is provided with a fixed gear wheel. A sliding sleeve with an internal gear is able to slide over the fixed gear wheel. The internal gear is suitably bevelled to assist meshing. The sleeve is attached to the lower side of the cardan shaft tunnel in such a manner that sleeve can be displaced axially without turning. A manual lever is fitted to the sleeve to extend into the vehicle interior. When the sleeve gear meshes with the cardan shaft gear, the vehicle becomes immobile. The manual lever can be locked by means of a combination lock.
