PURPOSE:To improve the safety in a method and a device for sounding in a cylindrical tube, enable observation of the tube in heated state and improve the workability, thereof by inserting an optical detector into the tube to detect the state of the inner wall in the tube and introducing the detected image through a photoconductor out of the tube into image receiving means. CONSTITUTION:A detector 16 is supported telescopically and rotatably by a supporting rod 18 on the top of a body 12. The body 12 is moved under the dipping tube 4 of a vacuum degassing furnace 2, the detector 16 is lifted into the tube 4 as designated by broken lines and turned to desirably face the opening 24 of the detector 16 with the tubular wall 8. Thus, the state of the tubular wall 8 can be introduced through a lens 28 into a light receiver 30, transmitted through an optical fiber 32 into image receiving means such as, for example, a camera, and formed as an image on an indicator such as a television or the like. |
