PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform and fine ingot of good workability with less inverse segregation by adding reciprocative motion parallel to the drawing axis thereby oscillating the ingot in addition to the casting in which pulling and stopping are repeated, at the solidifying of the ingot. CONSTITUTION:The ingot 10 drawn out from a heat insulating furnace 1 through 6 in which a cooling device 2 is provided is subjected to repetition of pulling and stopping by means of the traction rolls 4 and pressure rolls 5 of a traction device 3, whereby it is continuously cast. An oscillating device 7 which applies reciprocative motion in parallel to the drawing axis of the ingot 10 is provided to the device 3. The device 7 consists of an eccentric cam 8 and a driving power source 9. Along with the revolution of the eccentric cam 8, the entire part of the device 3 reciprocatively moves and repeats oscillation at a constant amplitude and frequency. It is equally well to allow the traction rolls 4 to run forward, stop and run reverse, besides to run forward and stop. Thereby, the stable solidified shell may be made and the mold life is prolonged. |
